Joshua Tree Percussion snare drums are built using stave shells in a variety of wood types to the highest standards (they sound great too!). You might ask, why do Joshua Tree Percussion snare drums feature stave shells? Wood used to build stave shells is in a more natural form than ply or steam bent shells because the staves or blocks are solid wood — no plies or stress from bending. The grain pattern is vertical which puts the bearing edge on the harder end grain rather than the softer side grain. This gives the bearing edge more strength to stay true longer — giving you better sounding drums longer.
Joshua Tree Percussion offers snare drums built from Rock Maple, Soft Maple, Birch, Red Oak, White Oak, Ash, Cherry, Black Walnut and Hickory. In addition, Exotic woods are available such as Purple Heart, Bubinga, Cocobolo, Padauk, Zebrawood, Birds Eye Maple, Ebony, Bloodwood, and many more.
