The new Pearl Sensitone drums blow me away. Pearl has upped the game with these. There's isn't any silly marketing mumbo jumbo with these; it's just a killer sound. Most of the drum samples you are hearing on the radio are modeled from the Pearl Snares.

The Pearl 5x14 SensiTone Beaded Phosphor Bronze Snare Drum has a brilliant 1.2mm shell that projects powerful low end resonance, without the metallic highs you tend to get from a steel snare. This shell is able to sustain its tone thanks to ARL tube lug design, which has minimal contact with the shell. The Pearl SuperHoop II Hoops also give the shell a little extra room to breathe.
