Djembes

Djembes are historically rooted in West African musical culture, and can add a tribal, rhythmic flair to your musical arrangements. The Drum Center of Portsmouth hosts drum circle nights, and djembes are often at the core of their rhythmic pulse. Standard djembes run about 2 feet tall and 1 foot wide, and are a great starting part for the budding percussionist at home or in the classroom. Like most world-percussion instruments, djembes are available in both wooden and synthetic shell and head materials. Each material has its pros and cons that one of our associates will be happy to discuss in detail with you!
