Before anything else, what Drum-Tec actually markets to the whole world is its advanced and ahead-of-its-time Drum Triggering System. Drum-Tec’s triggering system is definitely different from anybody else’s in the market — for instance, the  Pro 3 Series14x5.5 Electronic Snare Drum  uses a 3-ply mesh head which even at lower tension still feels like a real acoustic snare drum. And of course, when you bring it up to a higher tension, the electronic snare drum produces a bit more of a snappier feel like we’re accustomed to feeling on a higher-tuned acoustic snare drum.

Now, what’s pretty amazing about the Pro 3 Series is that it uses SEVEN (7) triggers for its snare drum. Yes, you read that right — SEVEN! This eliminated hot spotting which we typically encounter on a lot of electronic drum pads in the market. This allows your drumming to get a wider range and have more flexibility on the playing surface. 

As you can see from the picture above, there are three (3) sensors right at the center of the drum, another three (3) sensors around the circumference of the shell, and one (1) for the rim trigger. You can also notice the Drum-Tec utilized a strut system on the inside of the shell to ensure that the sensors stay as secure as they do and can withhold the abuse even of heavy-hitting drummers. 

On the other hand, the triggering system of the Pro 3 Series' Tom Pads is composed of a total of four (4) sensors on the inside of the shell. As shown in the picture, there are (3) head triggers and one (1) rim trigger. The head triggers are mounted around a specially dimensioned damping cushion at the center of the shell. 

What Drum-Tec was targeting with the toms is they want you to be able to tension the head to what you’re accustomed to. Slack tension typically poses an issue for most electronic drums in the market. But this isn’t just any electronic drum in the market though! With the way their Advanced Drum Triggering System is set up, the sensors are still able to pick up everything even with the presence of slack tension.

The triggers give you precise sensing regardless of the drumhead tension — you can tighten the mesh heads individually and get the best rebound for you and the right sensitivity of the triggers. Thus, the velocity remains at an optimum, allowing you to feel like you’re still playing an acoustic drum set! 

The same goes for the Pro 3 Series' bass drum pad — the precisely aligned single trigger system really allows you to feel like you’re playing an acoustic bass drum all in all. This fine-tuning means that beats from both the right and left beaters are always detected equally with the same sensitivity while playing with a double pedal. That’s right. As we see it, this bass drum packs a solid punch for an electronic drum!
