This Tama STAR Bubinga shell pack includes a 22" x 16" bass drum, 10" x 8" and 12" x 9" toms, and 14" x 14" and 16" x 16" floor toms. The Natural Indian Laurel finish features an outside inlay. Drums only; hardware and cymbals are sold separately.

As Tama’s flagship drum line, STAR builds on the research behind Starclassic with a focus on shell resonance. The thin Bubinga shells deliver the wood’s rich low end and deep, dark character, while 9mm Sound Focus Rings reinforce the shells and support clear projection and sustain.

Key Features

• Shell construction: 4.5mm, 5-ply Bubinga with one outer and one inner Bosse ply, plus 9mm Sound Focus Rings.
• STAR bearing edges have a rounded peak for increased drumhead-to-shell contact; the peak sits 3.5mm from the shell’s outer surface to help transfer vibration efficiently.
• Shell interiors and bearing edges are hand-finished with oil; STAR Bubinga interiors use an oil-finished Cordia or Bosse inner ply.
• The Super Resonant Mounting System uses three contact points, rubber isolation, and a support arm positioned on the bottom hoop to reduce stress on the shell and hoop while preserving resonance. An alternate batter-hoop contact point supports the drum when tilted beyond a certain angle.
• Quick-Lock tom brackets make setup and breakdown easier; their two-part design leaves the memory-lock section on the stand or floor tom leg, and rubber lining helps isolate the drum.
• STAR floor tom legs use hollow, soft rubber tips designed to absorb downward impact while supporting natural resonance, sustain, and a comfortable response.
• Bass drum spurs feature soft, high-mass rubber feet. Their two-piece construction separates the metal spike from the spur with rubber to absorb impact while helping the shell resonate freely.
• Low-mass bridge lugs minimize shell contact; floating bass drum claw hooks, an imprinted badge, and a small wooden air-hole grommet further limit material on the shell.
• Die-cast zinc hoops provide a crisp attack, projection, focused tone, and consistent shape for tuning; their density also helps drums stay in tune longer.
• Hold Tight washers combine cup-shaped stainless steel with rubber rings to absorb vibration and help keep tension rods in contact with the hoops.
