It’s kind of confusing at first, but once you get the hang of switching the ratchet direction, it gets really helpful if you’re working in a space where you can’t get a drill. I find that I don’t use the speed tighten feature on it, mostly because I got it for the ratchet, but also because I haven’t changed many drumheads with it, and the ones I did, I found it a little stiff to use. Frankly, if all you want is a ratcheting key and the vertical form factor is not too important, I would look at the Gibraltar SC-RK, which gets the job done for $10, but could be hard to use in tight spaces like at your kick pedal.
