During the development of the R.F.M. series, the team of experts at Canopus carefully considered the desired sound of a maple drum shell. While the modern maple shell has a solid and bright sound, they felt it also has some limitations that can be improved upon. One common issue is the lack of resonance and sustain, as well as unwanted overtones. Through extensive research and experimentation, Canopus found a way to maintain the positive qualities of maple shells while also addressing these shortcomings.

  Their ongoing research and analysis have allowed them to create a unique approach to reinforcing their shells, resulting in the bright and solid sound of the R.F.M. series. Canopus also prioritizes creating a fantastic core drum sound with a wide tuning range and excellent balance within the drum set, making the RFM maple drums suitable for all genres of music.
