It is a very well balanced snare drum.It may appear to give less overall volume due to its light weight – but this drum has a full range of tone and dynamic potential – it is very easy to play with a great feel and superior response.

I love my Canopus maple snare drum, with this was looking for something that played better, it didn't. It's a bit of a disappointment, not because it's horrible, just that I thought the birch would play / rebound better. I have the bottom head tight and the batter head tuned to a medium high pitch. It doesn't sound bad, just doesn't perform like I had hoped.
