Description

The Gretsch USA snare drum program is legendary - there's a wide range of tones available, lovingly built by craftsmen using only the top quality materials. Copper's inherent softness makes for a drum that is warm and articulate while at the same time having the cut and presence of a metal shell. The drum's almost wood-like tonal quality is perfect for situations that require both power and clear stick definition. The 1mm polished copper shell also comes with our Micro-Sensitive throw, 42-Strand snare wires, die cast hoops and a 'Snap-In' key holder.

Can't go wrong

I highly recommend this snare as a very versatile option in the USA Custom line. It goes low to as high as you want to go. Copper is a more dry, crisp sound and has the warmer sound of a wood snare but with plenty of highs that'll cut through. Sounds great right out of the box. I don't usually like stock heads and wires all that much but these sounded really good. All the same, I gave it my usual treatment of new Aquarian heads top/bottom and Canopus 42 strand wires. The result was incredible. Probably my favorite snare I've owned, including some that were more expensive or more famous (black beauty, etc). I play mostly jazz and funk but you could play anything on this snare with no issues. Plus, the black finish against chrome USA Custom hardware is stunning to look at.
