Gretsch G5380 Micro-Sensitive Strainer Assembly for Snare Drum

Exactly what I needed it! Perfect match for my 50’s 15” Gretsch snare!

Purchased this strainer to replace a missing Micro from an old COB 4160. Mounting holes lined up perfectly, and the throw off works great! The locking mechanism on the handle is a great addition over the older model.

I bought this to replace a generic snare throwoff that had replaced the original Microsensitive unit. It works well but getting it installed was an experience. It lined up fine with the original holes but I had to use FOUR washers on the inside of the shell in order for the attaching screws to avoid hitting a part on the unit itself. Without the washers the screws would hit the outside of the unit and wouldn't tighten further. I tried various ways to install the unit but using the washers was the only one that worked. Perhaps I did something wrong. If Gretsch had provided a 5 cent instruction sheet on their $95 part all my hassles could have been avoided. The unit works fine but I'm concerned that using all those washers will not enhance the long term stability.
