SHELL:

Constructed from 7-ply cross-laminated North American maple, the Classic Maple snare is favored by professionals for its versatile tonal qualities. Renowned for its high sensitivity, broad dynamic tuning capabilities, and precise attack, it excels in live performance settings. The carefully engineered 7-ply shell responds swiftly to both the musician and the environment, offering adaptability to a wide range of playing styles and preferences.

BEARING EDGE:

Each drum features a bearing edge precisely cut to a 45-degree angle within 1/16" of the outer rim. This sharp edge is meticulously hand-sanded by skilled craftsmen to ensure a smooth, even, and flat surface, facilitating optimal head seating and contributing to the signature Ludwig Sound.

RFST MOLDING:

The Classic Maple features a standard 7-ply, 6mm shell engineered for optimal resonance and tonal clarity. Its core consists of three plies laminated in a horizontal/vertical/horizontal grain pattern at a 2.4mm thickness, sandwiched between two-ply inner and outer panels using Ludwig’s proprietary Radio Frequency Shell Technology (RFST). This process employs original bladder molds and a specialized adhesive to evenly cure the shell, enhancing stability and contributing fundamentally to the distinctive "Ludwig Sound" found in every drum shell.
