Sakae Walnut Snare Drum 14x5.5 Natural

This Walnut Snare drum, hand made in Osaka is the newest addition to my Sakae Snare Library. It saddens me to think that a company that made drums of this quality didn't last on the merit of their product alone. Sigh. This drum sounds so awesome! With a medium tuning, it has a nice exacting, fat leathery whack with a well balanced mix of darker wood shell tone & snare sound. This snare, like all Sakae Drums, is really sensitive. Brushes have a really beautifully detailed and almost dimensional sound. I use the Canopus Vintage 16 Strand, and get a really incredible sound. Their innovative Butt End strainer tension knob is pretty cool for centering the position of the strainer.
