Introduced in 1983, the original SONORLITE series emerged as the lighter counterpart to the renowned SONOR Signature Series. While maintaining the same commitment to sonic and technological excellence, SONORLITE’s thinner, lighter shells and slightly shallower drum depths offered unparalleled practicality. This made it the ultimate premium drum set for professional musicians seeking portability without sacrificing performance.

The original SONORLITE drums featured two distinct shell constructions: 12-ply (7mm) shells for bass drums and snare drums, and 9-ply (6mm) shells for toms and floor toms. Crafted from premium Finnish birch, the shells combined strength with reduced weight, enabling maximum drumhead vibration. This design delivered a pure, resonant, and open tone with exceptional clarity and projection.

The 150th Anniversary SONORLITE Shell Set is more than a reissue; it is a tribute to the iconic original, blending the classic SONORLITE shell design with modern innovations. Using cross-laminated Finnish birch veneer, the shells replicate the original’s 9- and 12-ply construction. The outer and inner layers feature Scandinavian Birch (Betula alba), renowned for its striking grain patterns, a hallmark of SONORLITE since its debut.

To honor the timeless beauty of the Scandinavian Birch veneer, each shell is hand-finished with a clear semi-gloss lacquer applied in multiple stages, enhancing its natural elegance. The hardware, plated in Ruthenium, adds a touch of luxury while complementing the light, natural tones of the veneer with refined sophistication.

Each drum in the series is adorned with a numbered commemorative badge, certifying its exclusivity. Limited to only 75 sets worldwide, the collection includes 25 "Heritage" configurations featuring authentic SONORLITE depths, and 50 sets with modern, shallower depths, offering contemporary drummers the perfect balance of tradition and versatility.
