The Sonor Vintage Series was developed in collaboration with artists and collectors to faithfully replicate the look, feel, and sound of the original Teardrop drums. By blending vintage aesthetics with modern drum-making techniques, Sonor delivers instruments built to withstand contemporary playing demands. Featuring rounded bearing edges, this series revives the classic Sonor sound, distinct from the 45-degree edge introduced in 1975 still used on SQ2, Prolite, and Force models. Crafted from 9-ply, 6 mm cross-laminated beech shells, these drums include 1950s-style 2.3 mm triple-flanged steel “Superprofil” hoops on snares and toms. TuneSafe lugs prevent tension rod loosening, while bass drums use vintage-style claws with traditional tuning screws. Tom and floor tom heads are fitted with coated and clear Ambassador heads for authentic tone.
