Product Description
This is a remarkable World War II relic!
During the war, there was a requirement that no more than 10% of an instrument could be made from metal. The metal was to be preserved for use in ammunition, weapons, and war vehicles. So Slingerland had to think out of the box. Lugs, hoops, throw offs, and floor tom legs would be made from wood! As a result, these drums are not only much lighter in weight, but they produce a remarkably raw, organic, and earthy sound.
The sizes are:
- 26x14 bass drum
- 14x13 tom
- 16x16 floor tom
- 14x8 snare drum
These drums are in great condition for their age. The wrap on the batter side hoop of the 14'' tom is starting to come apart. The bass drum muffler is solid and intact and functions perfectly. The snare drum has a wooden throw off with a metal lever which has a unique look. The bass drum has 4 metal spurs which are intact and functional. The rack tom and cymbal arm mounts are intact and attach to the bass drum hoop solidly.
