Remo Ambassador Vintage Coated Drumhead 12"

I bought a used Yamaha Absolute Hybrid Maple kit that came fitted with Evans UV1 heads. They are nice but like other single ply heads, are too open for such lively and resonant drums and not what I've been used to hearing from previous kits. So I tried Evans UV2 heads. I initially liked these but they seemed to be failing with little use. Sounded like the ply's were separating or something and Evans was not helpful so I then tried Remo Emporer coated heads. These were very similar to UV2 but now that I'm used to the full resonant experience of these drums, I found offered too much dampening. So I opted to try Remo Vintage Ambassador coated heads as they are a thinner version of Emporer heads and a nice intermediate step between single and double ply heads. So far, I am satisfied with these. Offer a good amount of dampening without muffling the resonance and can play without additional dampening applied and not be overwhelmed with overtones as with single ply heads. As always, customer support was very helpful with making this selection as well. The only concern I have is the 10" head seemed to be a bit under sized for the shell as it did not fit flat on the bearing edge but tuned up when tensioned. The other heads did not exhibit this issue.
