Tama’s Hickory snare offering arrived before our community concert band’s (KCCB) penultimate rehearsal before our holiday concert. I dialed up the tuning and had my ensemble buddy take the snare part to Holtz’s Planet Mars, arranged for concert band. Our rehearsal space is quite damped acoustically. It made itself known, helping the band to lock into the 5/4 meter. In our performance hall, it sounded clear and effortless,(directors words). I have many different snare wires, and a brass single hoop to experiment with. I look forward to many hours of playing time with this shell. I have enjoyed all my Tama friends I’ve made in the last 25 years. Just might be a spruce drum out there, to complete my range of snares on board. KJK in AK.
