The Tama STAR Maple snare combines maple’s bright, open character with the warmth and body associated with solid-ply shells. Its thin shell uses a 2mm solid maple core between cross-laminated plies; STAR Maple shell options include 5-ply, 5mm construction, with or without 5mm Sound Focus Rings.

A rounded bearing-edge peak promotes contact between the drumhead and shell, while the oil-finished maple interior and low-contact hardware reflect STAR’s resonance-focused design. Finished in Piano Black with an inlay, this 14" x 5.5" snare also features die-cast zinc hoops for a focused tone, crisp attack, and consistent tuning.
